Recreational Parks in Washington State

People always try to seek out places of interest when vacation time rolls around. We, as humans, want to be sure that we don’t waste our precious days off by going somewhere that we aren’t going to absolutely love. However, not all places people visit give them what they want. Traveling in a motorhome almost guarantees that you’ll enjoy yourself wherever you go. The family togetherness and the memories created are incomparable.

Recreational Parks in Washington State

There are enjoyable vacation spots all over the nation, but few can compare to the beauty of the state of Washington. Here are a few examples of enjoyable National and State Parks that are found in the Pacific Northwest:

Olympic National Park has some attractive sites that are sure to satisfy anyone vacationing there. Places like Hurricane Ridge, Hoh Rain forest and Rialto Beach all add to the beauty and versatility of the park. Aside from hiking, one can enjoy a spring driving tour along the Columbia River Gorge, and it doesn’t get any better than doing this in a Cruise America rental motorhome. For tranquility and relaxation, this spot is unparalleled. It is especially beautiful in mid-April when the lupine and balsamroots bloom, creating fields of majestic purple and golden hues.

Another great place to visit is the Beacon Rock state park. It’s a 4,650-acre camping park situated deep inside the Columbia River Gorge. This is a beautiful place to visit, and the scenery will more than satisfy one's desire for natural beauty. It’s also popular because of its unique rock structure produced by ice-age floods more than 17,000 years ago.

The best time for wildflower viewing in the state of Washington is during the spring, and the most popular sites for this is Hamilton Mountain Trail at the Columbia River Gorge, located in Southwest Washington. To get the best panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge, hike the mile-long trail along the summit of Beacon Rock. There is plenty of nearby quality camping for RV travelers.

Columbia Hills State Park is another spectacular place for RVers to get away. It’s a 3,338-acre park that has 7,500 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Columbia River. Camping in this park is refreshing and uplifting, especially if you like the sound of cascading water and the wind blowing in the trees.

The State of Washington is packed with beautiful parks, and we’d be remiss if we failed to mention Maryhill State Park—a 99-acre park with 4,700 feet of waterfront on the Columbia River in Klickitat County. This place is naturally beautiful and there are many wonders to behold. Situated on a bluff that is located near the park, there stands what is referred to as the Maryhill Stonehenge. It’s a full-scale concrete replica of the real Stonehenge. Other activities at the park include camping, swimming, hiking, boating, waterskiing, beachcombing, wildlife watching and horseshoes.

Traveling in a Cruise America rental RV comes with several rewards, but the biggest rewards are the journey with your loved ones, and the memories created as you go.
